  • Bubble & Water Science Fun (Ages 3 ½ - 5)

    Why do bubbles pop? What floats and what sinks? Does water have skin? Why are bubbles round? Why does water squirt up? Kid-test the answers to these questions and more in this fun, interactive and scientific class. Kids experiment in all things bubbles, create art and snacks with water and bubbles and more. The instructor is Amanda McKibben. Amanda is a licensed teacher and works in our After-School program. She is currently working on getting her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Western Governors University.

Creativity Step into the Prototyping Studio to bring your big ideas to life! Mold and transform unique inventions as you uncover the many places world-changing inventors create and then protect your prototypes with the power of intellectual property.   • Carpentry for Kids (Ages 8 – 10)

    This favorite building class is sure to fill fast! Learn practical woodworking skills with an emphasis on the safe use of hand tools. Learn the basic skills needed to make a Woodpecker Whirligig and more. The instructor is Marian Irvin. She is a lifelong educator for more than 25 years. She has taught Pre K - 4 grades in Texas, Delaware and Colorado.
  • Diggin’ Dinos (Ages 5 - 7)

    Spend a week as a paleontologist and sort fact from fiction with these fascinating creatures. What was it like when they lived? Dig for dinosaur bones, go on a dinosaur egg hunt, dinosaur masks, make a mold and cast your own fossil and build a volcano that erupts. This class includes songs, games, stories and snacks. The instructor is Helen Hanahan. Helen works as an After-School Coordinator at JRES. She loves getting to know all the kids in summer camps!
  • Diggin’ Dinos Jr. (Ages 3½ - 5)

    Explore Earth’s earliest and most fascinating inhabitants through hands-on crafts, stories, games and music. Discover how dinosaurs are classified and fossils are made, and make your own dinosaur tracks. Use your imagination and construct your own prehistoric creature. The instructor is Daniela Moscoso. She has a degree in Psychology from Westminster College and has been a kid favorite with PCSD for 7 years. Her excitement for dinosaurs is as big as a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
  • Dr. Seuss & Silly Science (Ages 5 – 7)

    Based on the popular children’s book Oobleck, Slime & Dancing Spaghetti, classic children's literature is combined with fun kitchen science experiments. Read the books and learn how to make the green goo found in Dr. Seuss' Bartholomew and the Oobleck, make the pasta dance as shown in Tomie dePaola's Strega Nona and more. This unique class combines reading with science and makes a kitchen a mini-laboratory. The instructor is Daniela Moscoso. She has a degree in Psychology from Westminster College and has been a kid favorite with PCSD for 7 years.
  • Earth’s Creepy Crawlers (Ages 3½ - 5)

    Beetles, bugs, butterflies and other weird, wacky and wonderful critters are explored in this fun and creative science class. Discover little creatures through science, music, arts and crafts and more. This fun class includes a hands-on experience with Kim’s Cold Blooded Creatures. The instructor is Amanda McKibben.   • Extreme Animals in the Sea (Ages 3½ - 5)

    Explore the strongest, fiercest and weirdest creatures that live in the water. Discover the Mimic Octopus, Blob Fish, Whale Shark and other animals that look just like plants. Find out the wonderfully weird reasons that deep sea creatures look the way they do. The instructor is Daniela Moscoso. She has a degree in Psychology from Westminster College and has been a kid favorite with PCSD for 7 years. No class 7/4.
  • Fairyland Fantasy (Ages 4 - 6)

    Get your wings and pixie dust ready! This class is a fairyland full of enchanting fun! Learn about different fairy legends of the world and create fairy art. Everyone receives fairy wings to keep. Frolic with music and dance with your fine fairy friends! The instructor is Katie Taylor.   • Kind Humans (Grades 1 – 3)

    Kindness is cool! This class centers on being a kind and generous human. The focus is on being selfless, caring, compassionate and unconditionally kind. Discover the 11 rules of kindness including being kind to yourself. Learn about local charities and what they do for others and create service projects to donate that benefits others. Planned surprises include gifts for The Peace House, Nuzzles & Co., National Ability Center, the Children’s Justice Center and Hawk Watch. The instructors are Helen Hanahan and Daniela Moscoso.
  • Lego WeDo Robotics (Grades 2 - 4)

    Get into the Lego Robotics craze and build Lego models with working motors and sensors. Lego WeDo engages children in hands-on technology experiments feature working motors and sensors. Kids program their models and explore a series of cross-curricular, theme-based activities while developing skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics as well as language, literacy and social studies. The instructor is Jill Kopish, who is a licensed teacher and our after-school STEM science teacher.
  • Little Carpenters (Ages 5 – 7)

    Discover basic carpentry skills such as measuring, sawing, drilling, fastening, assembling, sanding and painting. Use a complement of hand tools during a course that emphasizes safe tool use, practical problem solving and creative development. It's a "hands-on" class from day one. The instructor is Marian Irvin.   • Little Zoologists (Ages 5 – 7)

    Discover what it takes to be a professional Zoologist! Learn about different animals, their behaviors and how they interact with their ecosystems. Study the physical characteristics of animals and the 6 basic animal groups. Discover which animals are on the endangered list and how conservation efforts have helped animals to flourish and come off the list. The instructor is Marian Irvin.   • Mini-Math Do the Numbers! (Ages 3 ½ - 5)

    Kids love to learn and Mini-Math gets them going with numbers. Explore math through number recognition, shapes, sorting and patterning. Start learning math concepts like adding, subtracting while playing active games, creating with art and singing songs. The ants go marching one-by-one join the fun! The instructor is Marian Irvin.   • Mysteries of the Ice Age (Ages 3 ½ - 5)

    Explore the “cool” wonders of the ice age: Dire Wolf, Saber Tooth Tiger, Short Faced Bear, Giant Beaver and more. Learn about this less explored period and the animals and plants. Find out what causes an ice age, create rock art, animal hand puppets and discuss why age animals became extinct. The instructor is Daniela Moscoso. She has a degree in Psychology from Westminster College and has been a kid favorite with PCSD for 7 years. She loves getting to know all the kids in summer camps!
  • Pete the Cat It’s All Groovy (Ages 4 - 6)

    Kids love Pete the Cat and we do too! He’s a groovy guy that no matter what life may throw his way, he always looks for the good in every situation. Kids learn valuable traits such as courage, enthusiasm, honesty, patience, perseverance and how to be a great friend. The instructor is Helen Hanahan. Helen works as an After-School Coordinator at JRES. She loves Pete the Cat’s positive messages that it’s best to always be yourself!
  • Quirkles (Ages 4 - 6)

    What is Quirkles? It’s an innovative science curriculum integrating literacy and science with vocabulary building and science concepts using stories and experiments. It’s colorful and fun and kids love it! Kitchen Chemistry Kal (K) Susie Sound (S) Water William (W) Gilbert Gas (G) Ellie Electricity (E) Ronnie Rock (R) These and other Quirkles teach letters, vocabulary, and the foundations of physical science. The instructor is Eva Montejano. Eva is a kid favorite at Trailside Elementary. She loves getting to know all the kids in summer camps!
  • Sewing with Madison Banks (Grades 6 & Up)

    Channel your creativity through sewing! Learn the basics of the sewing machine and make a sewing tote to take home the first day. Discover machine and hand sewing and how to read a pattern. Sew your own pair of pajama bottoms. Supply list for basic notions supplies provided prior to the first class. Cost of materials for pajama bottoms and supplies are extra and based on your project. (Tote supplies and machines are provided. The instructor, Madison Banks, is the owner of The Finishing School in Heber. She has been sewing since childhood and helped her Grandmother run Finishing School SLC.
  • Shark Week (Ages 4 – 6)

    Hark I See a Shark! Did you know there are over 400 shark species swimming the seas today? We explore the different varieties of shark including the most feared great white down to the longest living the spiny dogfish. Utilizing STEAM activities the children will learn about shark anatomy, what sharks eat, ways they have babies, how we track shark movement and shark spotter contest. The instructor is Marian Irvin. She is a lifelong educator for more than 25 years. She has taught Pre K - 4 grades in Texas, Delaware and Colorado. No class 7/24.
  • Slime-O-Rama (Grades 2 – 4)

    Do you go crazy for slime? We turn making slime into fun STEM science experiments as we explore polymers and non-Newtonian fluids, perform scientific investigations into recipe variations and more. Includes: Edible slime, Color Changing slime, Glow in the Dark Slime, Noisy slime, Super stretchy slime. Learn the science behind slime that is easy to understand with hands-on experiments including concepts of liquids and solids and how heat and force affect liquids. The instructor is Eva Montejano. Eva is a kid favorite at Trailside Elementary. She loves getting to know all the kids in summer camps! No class 7/24.
  • Spa Day (Grades 2 – 4)

    Who loves pampering? We do! Join in the fun as we learn to make things that glitter and shine. This class includes luxurious pedicures, manicures, meditation, face masks and more. Learn to make bath bombs, sugar scrub and lip balm. It’s so cool; it is hard to believe it is all science. All supplies are included. The instructor is Helen Hanahan. Helen has grown up in the spa business and loves all things spa related from facials to manicures/pedicures to massages and all the fun products that go with it all!   • Spa Day Pour La Petite (Grades K – 1)

    Oo la la! Calling all little divas to join us for a week of pampering at this camp. Ms. Helen and Ms. Daniela teach campers how to make bath bombs, face masks and all things spa related. Relax and experience manicures, pedicures, massages and hair treatments! It’s so cool; it is hard to believe it is all science.
  • To the Stars & Beyond (Ages 3 1/2 - 5)

    Come join us for a space adventure and go where no kid has ever gone before! Learn about the stars, journey to the moon, soar into the galaxy like an astronaut and sample some astronaut food. We'll even make our own alien and play in a spaceship. Have fun along the way making crafts and eating star-shaped snacks. The instructor is Bonnie Birell.
